CVE-2024-21631
Executive Summary
CVE-2024-21631 is an integer overflow vulnerability in the Vapor HTTP web framework for Swift, specifically within the vapor_urlparser_parse function. The function uses uint16_t indexes when parsing URI components, which can overflow when processing untrusted, abnormally long URLs. This flaw does not directly compromise the Vapor server itself but can be exploited in applications that use the URI type for user input validation, particularly when the URI is passed to an HTTP client. An attacker can pad the port number with zeros to cause an integer overflow during authority parsing, leading to host spoofing. This could trick applications into connecting to an untrusted destination. The vulnerability has a CVSS score of 6.5 (Medium) and is patched in version 4.90.0.
