Dynamic Process Management Scaling for Python ASGI Runtimes
This configuration snippet defines dynamic process scaling parameters for high-performance Python ASGI applications within Nginx Unit. Unit's process manager monitors incoming socket request queue depth and dynamically scales worker processes between a configured minimum and maximum threshold. Idle processes above the minimum count are gracefully reaped after a specified idle timeout period.
This configuration is optimized for microservices experiencing high variance in traffic patterns, such as enterprise API gateways that handle massive day-time demand spikes followed by low off-peak utilization. It optimizes host RAM utilization across co-located application workloads.
Configuring dynamic process bounds lowers baseline memory consumption. However, setting the minimum process limit to zero introduces cold-start latency for initial requests, as Unit must fork and initialize new language runtime interpreters on demand.
